Our Surf Camp, Surf Guest House and Surf School are based in Esmoriz, a picturesque coastal town located on Northern Portugals unspoilt green coastline (Costa Verde) with good transport links to Porto.

The unspoilt Green Coast stretching from Porto down to Figueira da Foz offers a variety of surf breaks to suit all levels of surfers. Spring, Summer and Autumn are ideal times to visit for the warmer climate and consistent surf. Winter is a good time to visit for bigger uncrowded waves.

The Surf Camp setup comprises of a traditional Portuguese beach house and small camp site both set in an unspoilt natural enviroment only meters from the beach and ocean. The beach right in front of the Surf Guest House, as well as nearby beaches, provide good quality uncrowded waves for all levels of surfers.

It has a great vibe and atmosphere and apres surf activities include sun downers on the terrace, BBQ's in the garden, surf movies in the chill out lounge etc.

SURF accommodation OPTIONS

CAMPING
The surf camp has exclusive use of a small plot of land which has the capacity for 6-8 tents located 50m from the surf guest house. Nestled in the dunes on the edge of a nature reserve it's the perfect choice for people on a budget who love the great outdoors and don't mind sleeping under canvas/stars listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach.

Please note that the Tent/Camping packages are only available in JULY & AUGUST.

FACILITIES/SERVICES: Tents are equipped with a mattress and sleeping bags. Single travellers are allocated a private tent and don't have to share. Clients will be able to use the facilities and services of the surf guest house.

SURF GUEST HOUSE
The main surf camp accommodation is a Traditional Portuguese house located in the dunes, surrounded by pine forests only 50m from the beach. The house offers more creatures comforts and has a great vibe and atmosphere and is also easy walking distance to local amenities (local bars and restaurants). The local surf team are there to help make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

OVERVIEW: The newly refurbished house comprises of a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, chillout lounge leading onto the terrace with sea views, various shared/private bedrooms, a good distibution of bathrooms/WC and outside there is a private garden with BBQ and chillout area

BEDROOMS: The house can comfortably accommodate between 19-22 people and it can cater for the needs of single travellers, couples, friends or a large group. Options are as follows:

• 1 x Double Bedroom that sleeps up to 2 people (Single, Couples)
• 1 x Twin Bedroom that sleeps up to 2 people (Couples or 2 friends)
• 1 x Bunk Bedroom that sleeps up to 4/6 people
• 1 x Bunk Bedroom Ensuite that sleeps up to 6 people
• 1 x Large Bedroom that sleeps up to 6 people (No bunk beds)

Room Allocation: Every effort is made to allocate the shared bedrooms on a single sex basis, however it is not always guaranteed.

BATHROOMS: The house has a total of 4 bathrooms each with WC and shower.

FACILITIES/SERVICES:
Lounge Area: TV, DVD player, Free WIFI, Surf DVD's, Board Games etc
Cleaning/Bed Linen: Rooms are cleaned prior to arrival and twice a week. Bed linen is provided however bath & hand towels are NOT provided and guests must bring their own.
Kitchen/Dining Area: A fully euipped kitchen is available for guests to prepare light snacks, meals, tea, coffee etc.

BREAKFAST: A continental buffet breakfast is provided to all guests on a daily basis.

Surf School & Surf Lessons

The Surf School was formed in 2004 by local surfer Miguel in association with the Portuguese Surfing Federation. Over the years they have gained an unprecedented knowledge of northern Portugals Green Coast and now they want to share their passion for surfing with others.

The local Surf Instructors are all qualified via the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS) and all have the necessary skills and patience to help you progress in a safe but fun enviroment at your own pace. The coaching is specifically aimed at those who have never surfed before or those who have already taken some some lessons but feel they need to improve further. Surfing is progressive and there is always something new to be experienced and learned!

Surf Lessons: The surf lessons are run Monday to Friday on the beach within walking distance of the surf camp: Each 5 day course comprises:
15h beach/water time + 1x video analysis (2h) + 1 x surf theory (2h)
For safety reasons and to ensure you get the attention you need on dry land and in the water, the Surf Lessons have a low student to instructor ratio. All students are placed with an English speaking instructor who specialize in teaching at a particular level.

Warm up & Yoga: The surf schools Yoga teacher has developed a special warm up/warm down programme specifically aimed at helping beginner and intermediate surfers strengthen and improve flexibility

• Warm-up, Stretching and Specific body excercises incorporating specific YOGA techniques
• Beach safety and Basic safety rules in the water
• Equipment choice according to your level: wetsuits, boards, accessories
• Prone position, Pop-up, Stance
• Paddling technique
• Take off technique
• Duck dive and other technique, to get out back through the whitewater
• Peaks, line-up and rip/currents dynamics
• Surf Etiquette and Priority rules
• Angled take offs, Riding (rights and lefts) Forehand and Backhand
• First turns, tricks and maneaouvres
• Surfboard shaping
• Weather and Surf forecasting

Equipment: All the equipment used by the Surf School is specifically designed for beginners and intermediates with safety being the key factor.

Beginners will use softdeck boards specifically designed for both stability and safety. Intermediates will use Epoxy boards which provide a good blend of stability, manouverability and performance. Custom boards are available for more experienced surfers who are already comfortable riding a higher performance board. The instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and ability.

Surfboards: Lazer Softdeck Boards, Epoxy Boards (NSP & BIC), Longboards, Malibus, Minimals, Evolution and Shortboards (Fiberglass and Epoxy). Wetsuits: Semente & Prolimit 4/3mm suits.
